As Evan lay, eyes wide open and pretending to sleep, his mind continued working out what the meeting would hold. At first light, he slipped out from beneath and tucked her in with affection even he had not expected…there was something nagging at him, but he would figure that out later. For now, there were more important matters to deal with. Dressing quickly, he left his suitcase and a short note saying he would be bringing back coffee.

As the elevator opened to the lobby, he saw the man and woman already approaching the elevator. The young man at the front desk would later swear to his drinking buddies that he was watched a secret meeting between Malcolm McDowell, Richard Mulligan and Gillian Anderson…only taller.

Evan nodded and pulled his colleague’s to the lobby couches. “Diana, Harold…I did not expect you so soon. What news?”

Diana’s eyes narrowed. “Eviction.”

Disappointment burned Evan’s belly. He had been too optimistic. “Yes, we knew that was inevitable, but when?”

Harold answered, “They have already launched their emissary.”

Synapses burned through his brain at this thought. “Launched? Already? Twenty-five years then? Unless their technology has changed, I would estimate a 2020 arrival.”

Diana nodded. “That is still accurate.”

“Then ten or fifteen years before they will move.”

Harold shook his head. “No, that has changed and we anticipate only one more year.”

A moment of thought passed with dead air before Evan continued, “I know what I must do…”

Harold interrupted, “We have projected a landing in the US State called Georgia. City of Atlanta.”

His green eyes searched Harold’s face. “Atlanta, Georgia? No, this is incorrect. However, still close, it will be Savannah and…” An odd thought slipped from his circuits that the young woman upstairs would call her daughter Georgia. He looked up, as though seeing her through the ceiling above, before returning his gaze to Harold and Diana. “Regardless, I will be prepared. Are we certain this is the mission?”

“Eighty-nine percent certainty,” Diana offered.

“Okay, let us get to work. Thank you for…” his own circuits interrupted him with a second odd thought. The little colour his face had drained. “Thank you for this, I must prepare.” He stood.

“Evan? What are you thinking?” Diana asked. “You look confused.”

“What of the prophecy?”

Harold shrugged. “We know nothing. So far there are no signs of it being fulfilled.”

Evan nodded. “And what of the Predator?”

“No sign other than the ones you already know.” Harold stood, looking anxious to go.

Evan gave a quick nod and turned to Diana. “You said that we did come close.”

“Yes, once,” Diana agreed, “but not close enough.”

“Might I ask what happened there?” Evan sat back down, realizing their discussion was far from over. “You have not shared this.”

“We’ve never had the opportunity.” Diana bit her lip and thought for a moment. “He was in Canada. I went to Calgary where I met Wanda.”

“Yes, I remember you mentioning her. It was good to know we could develop feelings for these humans.”

Harold sat down again, unable to hide the look of annoyance in his eyes.

“I definitely did that for Wanda.
